Another common lesion in mouth, presents with red white patches in the mouth. Unlike lichen planus, it does not affect the skin
How is it caused? Can be caused by local irritant (amalgam filling) or due to other medications taken (blood pressure tablets, etc). Some of them have no known cause and can be related to autoimmune condition.
How is it treated? Removal of the precipitating cause. Local steroids application or very rarely aggressive treatment with systemic steroids.
